Zhong Shunfeng

Oil Painter / Hong Kong

About

Zhong Shunfeng is a Chinese-Hong Kong artist. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in the UK. She currently resides in the UK and engages in oil painting creation. During her stay in the UK, she frequently exchanges ideas on oil painting creation with the Royal College of Art and artists from various countries. Her works have been exhibited in major art galleries and museums in the UK, the US, Italy, France, and other countries.

Her original resin paint paintings possess unparalleled transparency, fluidity and plasticity. When the pigments are mixed with the resin paint, it no longer serves as a passive material under the control of the brush, but becomes an active collaborator with its own life, leading the colors to flow, blend and permeate naturally within the resin medium. During this process, she captures those accidental and unrepeatable texture effects, such as the misty and hazy appearance, the silky and smooth veins, and the starry clouds of the vast universe. This creative process inherently embodies the philosophical thought of Taoism, which advocates following the natural law.

In February 2026, she was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Traditional Painting) and became a Lifetime member.

Artist Statement

The essence of art lies in the fact that the creator expresses their emotions according to their own heart, lets go of themselves, and immerses themselves in their own creative world. This immersion and ecstasy in self-expression is the original intention behind the creation of art, rather than being done to please external judgments, to please others, or to seek recognition.
