Zeng Yulin

Visual Art Practitioner / Singapore

About

Zeng Yulin is a visual artist and art educator with extensive experience in both creative practice and arts education. She is currently active in Singapore’s community art scene. Her work and teaching span painting, crafts, and mixed-media art, with a focus on engaging and experiential approaches that inspire creativity and self-expression across diverse groups.

Through her ongoing practice, she has developed a participatory art approach at the core of her work, viewing art as a medium for emotional communication. She is committed to creating open and accessible environments that encourage individuals to express themselves, while fostering connections among people of different ages and backgrounds.

With years of experience in art education, she has guided approximately 500 students aged 3 to 16 in their artistic development. Her students have achieved a high success rate in both national and international art competitions, earning her wide recognition.

In recent years, she has been actively involved in community-based art initiatives, conducting workshops for children, seniors, and individuals with special needs, and contributing to the development of inclusive art practices within the community.

In her personal practice, she increasingly focuses on emotionally expressive visual language, exploring how animal imagery can carry and convey subtle emotional narratives. Her work seeks to create a gentle yet emotionally resonant visual experience.

In April 2026, she was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Traditional Painting) and became a Lifetime Member.

Artist Statement

My practice explores how emotions can be transformed into visual forms. I tend to use a simple and direct visual language to translate inner feelings into perceivable imagery, allowing the work to remain open between representation and expression.

Through the organization of forms and relationships within the composition, I aim to create a quiet yet emotionally resonant visual experience. For me, art is not a reproduction of reality, but an expression of perception and inner states.
