The Singapore World Piano Competition has rapidly grown into one of the highly regarded international music events in Asia and globally since its inaugural event in 2024. The competition adheres to the principle of "gathering friends through the piano and communicating hearts through music", aiming to provide a high-level platform for global piano art talents and promoting exchanges and dialogues among different cultural backgrounds. The first event attracted outstanding contestants from various countries and regions, and after rigorous selection by an authoritative jury, it showcased the vigorous power and diverse charm of young piano art in the world.
In 2025, the second Singapore World Piano Competition was grandly held at a momentous occasion - the 60th anniversary of Singapore's independence. Over the past 60 years, Singapore has written a unique development chapter with an open, inclusive and outstanding spirit, and has won respect from the world with its diverse culture and international perspective. This year's competition, with the theme of "Sixty Years · One Melody", symbolizes the mutual resonance between piano art and Singapore's founding journey: pursuing harmony in diverse notes, achieving excellence through continuous exploration, and sounding new chapters in the leap of the times.
The Organizing Committee has invited an international jury comprising renowned pianists, professors, and music critics from leading conservatories and performance institutions worldwide to ensure the highest standards of professionalism and fairness. Beyond judging, each jury member will provide personalized written feedback for participants — a hallmark feature of the Competition that offers invaluable artistic insight and guidance for every performer’s growth. The evaluation criteria go beyond technical brilliance to emphasize musical expression, artistic interpretation, and emotional depth, aiming to discover talents who embody both international competitiveness and creative individuality.
As an art event with international influence, the Singapore World Piano Competition is not only a musical competition but also a cultural event. While celebrating Singapore's 60th anniversary of independence, we hope to bring together the voices from different countries here and convey Singapore's spirit of "harmony and coexistence, facing the future" to the world. We firmly believe that this event will leave a rich and significant mark on the music art landscape of Singapore and the world.
