As one of the most representative plucked string instruments in Chinese musical heritage, the pipa embodies a rich artistic tradition and a distinctive aesthetic language. Building on the success of the previous editions, the third competition continues to uphold the principles of professional standards, artistic integrity, and an international perspective, providing a global platform for pipa performers from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The competition brings together outstanding musicians, educators, and scholars as jury members, ensuring a rigorous, fair, and transparent evaluation process. Repertoire requirements balance traditional masterpieces with contemporary works, encouraging participants to demonstrate both technical mastery and individual artistic interpretation.
More than a competition, the World Pipa Competition serves as a platform for artistic exchange and professional development, connecting emerging talents, educational institutions, and the international music community, and contributing to the global presence and future vitality of the pipa.
