Kang Jiandu is a highly distinctive artist. Coming from an artistic family, he has forged his own unique path in the field of art. In his early years, he received engineering education at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, laying a solid foundation of rational thinking and technical skills. Later, he went to Singapore and studied art history at Nanyang Technological University. The eight years of living and working there enabled him to extensively engage with diverse cultures and artistic concepts, which infused an international perspective into his creations.

The background of a science and engineering major has profoundly influenced Kang Jiandu's creations. He skillfully integrates his rational thinking about engineering technology into his paintings. This integration is not a simple combination but is reflected in the creative concept, composition layout, and even the application of brushstrokes, making the works present a unique style. It not only pursues the sensibility of artistic beauty but also has a rigorous structural logic similar to engineering.

In terms of artistic style, Kang Jiandu strives to integrate the strengths of both Chinese and Western art. He draws on the theoretical essence and creative experience of Western abstract art, while not forgetting to inherit the profound heritage of Chinese calligraphy and painting, especially in the application of lines, inheriting the beauty of lines in Chinese calligraphy and painting. In his ink abstract paintings, it not only reflects the bold innovation of Western abstract art in form and color, but also contains the unique "imagination" beauty of Chinese ink painting. His paintings are not bound by traditional objects, simplifying complexity and focusing on the essence. In July 2025, he was invited to join the Asian Art Association Singapore (Traditional Painting).
