Update on Dec 5:
1. All physical certificates, medals and trophies have been dispatched. Due to the time required for transportation, the following are the estimated dates for receiving them: December 15th (Singapore and Southeast Asia), December 20th (Greater China region), December 31st (Australia, the United States and other non-Asian countries). If they are not received by this date, please contact us by email promptly.
2. When receiving the package, please check in person whether it is damaged. If there are any problems, please promptly raise them to the courier and take photos to report to us. If you raise them after the courier leaves, you may need to bear additional material costs and courier fees.
3. The electronic feedback certificates are now available for collection. Please send an email to [email protected] to request them. In the email, state: the name of the competition, the name of the participant and the request for the Comment Certificate. Please request them by email before December 23rd, 2025. After that, they will no longer be provided.
4. We have already started holding special competitions for traditional Chinese music instruments such as guzheng, erhu and pipa. Please visit the official website of AAA to view.

The World Chinese Music Competition 2025, organized by the Asian Art Association Singapore, is officially open for entries!

As a grand event for Chinese music enthusiasts worldwide, the competition enters its second year, building upon the enthusiastic response and professional acclaim of its inaugural edition. Upholding the mission of "Promoting Chinese cultural heritage and uniting global Chinese music", the competition is dedicated to creating a fair, professional, inclusive, and high-level international platform for musical exchange.

This year's competition will be held entirely online. Participants can easily join by submitting a performance video—overcoming the barriers of geography and time. This format allows Chinese music learners and performers around the world to come together in the cloud, showcasing their talents, exchanging skills, inspiring one another, and growing together.

The competition is open to all age categorys and skill levels, with various categories and instrument classes, including but not limited to Erhu, Guzheng, Pipa, Dizi, Yangqin, Ruan, Suona, Sheng, and traditional Chinese percussion instruments. All entries will be evaluated by an esteemed panel of internationally recognized Chinese music performers and educators, who will provide fair scoring and constructive feedback with a highly professional and rigorous approach.

Type of Musical Instrument

Stringed Instruments: Erhu, Banhu

Wind Instruments: Dizi, Suona, Sheng

Plucked Instruments: Guzheng, Pipa, Yangqin, Guqin, Zhongruan and Liuqin

Chinese Percussion Instruments: Chinese big drums (including hall drums), Paigu (including big drums or combination drums that use both hall drums and Paigu), panel drums, other drums (such as Xinjiang hand drums, Korean long drums), combined percussion solos (Combined solo works based on "different categories" of Chinese percussion instruments are allowed to use no more than three "small categories" of foreign percussion instruments)

Solo Category

Amateur Children Category: 12 years old and below, the performance time not more than 6 minutes, one piece of self-selection, no accompaniment

Amateur Teenager Category: 13 to 17 years old, the performance should not exceed 9 minutes, one piece of own choice, no accompaniment

Amateur Youth Category: 18 to 45 years old, each performance time no more than 10 minutes, one or two songs of your own choice, accompaniment allowed

Amateur Middle-aged and Elderly Category: 46 years old or above, the performance should not exceed 10 minutes, a piece of one's own choice, with accompaniment allowed

Professional Children Category: 12 years old and below, the performance time no more than 6 minutes, one piece of own choice, no accompaniment

Professional Youth Category: 13 to 17 years old, the performance time no more than 9 minutes, one piece of self-selection, no accompaniment

Professional Adult Category: 18 years old and above, each performance time no more than 10 minutes, one or two songs of your own choice, optional accompaniment

Ensemble Category

Amateur Ensemble Minor Category: All members are 18 years old or younger, the performance should not exceed 10 minutes, one piece of self-selection

Amateur Ensemble for All Age Category: No age limit, the performance no more than 10 minutes, one piece of your own choice

Professional Ensemble Minor Category: All members are 18 years old or younger, the performance should not exceed 10 minutes, one piece of self-selection

Professional Ensemble for All Age Category: No age limit, the performance time no more than 10 minutes, one piece of your own choice

There are no restrictions on the types of musical instruments, but Chinese musical instruments should account for no less than 50% of the total, and the number of people (excluding conductors) should be at least 2 and at most 20.

Scoring Criteria and Awards

· The jury scores according to a number of dimensions, such as the difficulty of the piece, mastery of playing techniques, and musical expression.
· Contestants are required to memorize music scores when recording (except for ensembles).
· The registration fee for this competition is SGD 99 (78 USD or 560 RMB) / Person for the Amateur Solo Category, SGD 129 (100 USD or 730 RMB) / Person for the Professional Solo Category, SGD 89 (70 USD or 450 RMB) / Person for the Amateur Ensemble Category, and SGD 109 (85 USD or 615 RMB) / Person for the Professional Ensemble Category.

Entry Process

Step 1: Record the performance video horizontally by yourself. Before the performance, a performer or announcer speaks to the camera, "I am XXX, from XX city, XX country. Today is DD, MM, 2025. The following program is for the World Chinese Music Competition organized by the Asian Art Association Singapore. The instrument I use to play is xxx, I participate in the xxx Category, and the name of the performance is xxx." and then performed directly without any cuts.

Step 2: Submit the registration form and the network disk link of the video file on the official website of the competition before 24:00 on August 31, 2025. This time is Singapore time.

Step 3: Visit the official website of the World Chinese Music Competition on September 30, 2025 to check the competition results.

Awards

PLATINUM: 5% of the entries in each category. The winners will be awarded with a trophy, a certificate of award and a certificate of the judge's comment.

GOLD: 10% of the entries in each category. The winners will be awarded with a medal, a certificate of award and a certificate of the judge's comment.

SILVER: 15% of the entries in each category. The winners will be awarded with a medal, a certificate of award and a certificate of the judge's comment.

BRONZE: 20% of the entries in each category. The winners will be awarded with a medal, a certificate of merit and a certificate of the judge's comment.

OUTSTANDING WORKS: 50% of the entries in each category. The winners will be awarded with a medal, a certificate of merit and a certificate of the judge's comment.

OUTSTANDING TUTOR: The tutors of all participants will get a certificate of award.

OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATION: Group registration institutions will get a trophy and certificate.

The Organising Committee reserves the right to adjust the number of prizes according to the level of performance in each category.
