About<\/h2><\/span><\/div>[vc_custom_heading text=”Zhao Hanyang (\u8d75\u5bd2\u9633), born on December 10, 1954 in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is a renowned Chinese erhu player, director of the Department of Folk Music at the Central Conservatory of Music, professor and doctoral supervisor. He is a member of the Chinese Musicians Association, vice president of the Chinese Erhu Society, a member of the National Erhu Examination Expert Committee, and a member of the Artist Department of the Chinese Talent Research Society. He was admitted to the Department of Folk Music of the Central Conservatory of Music in 1977, and stayed on as a teacher after graduating from the undergraduate program in 1982, where he has been teaching for many years. Zhao Hanyang has traveled around the world for performances and lectures, and has contributed greatly to the education and development of the erhu.<\/p>\n

In the academic field, he has published 33 erhu textbooks and monographs, more than 80 academic papers, and a large number of audiovisual recordings and performances, which are highly respected by the domestic and international music communities. Zhao Hanyang’s artistic achievements have been included in the \u201cDirectory of Chinese Musicians\u201d, \u201cWho’s Who in the World\u201d, \u201cTrans-Century Talent Series\u201d, and the \u201cWho’s Who in the World\u201d of the University of Cambridge (UK), further highlighting his influence and contributions.<\/p>\n

Artist Statement<\/h2><\/span><\/div>[vc_custom_heading text=”Erhu, as a traditional Chinese musical instrument, has a history of thousands of years, and its playing skills have developed from oral transmission by folk artists to the establishment of modern schools, reflecting the cultural inheritance. To keep pace with the times and the world, folk music requires artistic innovation, and the revival and prosperity of national music is the historical mission of a musician in the new era.<\/p>\n

I learned erhu in order to inherit and promote national culture, which is my lifelong pursuit. I now have many labels on my body, but what I value most is still the identity of the people’s teacher. From my own experience of learning erhu, I can especially understand the difficulties of amateurs who do not have a good teacher to guide them. Artistic Achievement<\/h2><\/span><\/div>[vc_custom_heading text=”- In 1994, he published his own erhu albums on CD: \u201cChinese Traditional Instrumental Music Famous Artists and Pieces Series – Moonlit Night\u201d and \u201cAutumn Moon in the Han Palace\u201d.
\n– In 1991, he cooperated with China Central Television (CCTV) to write and present the first national instrumental music TV teaching film \u201cChildren Learning Erhu\u201d, which was highly praised by the music industry and the society after broadcasting, and won the second prize in the selection of excellent teaching films on national TV.
\n– In recent years, he has shot and published more than ten sets of teaching videos, such as \u201cChildren Learning Erhu\u201d and \u201cNational Erhu Examination Counseling\u201d, which are nearly fifty hours long.
